Following our first notification of the Assessment Workbooks introduction back in the June eNews, we are now pleased to announce the official launch of our Level 2 Mandatory Units Assessment Workbook.  The assessment workbook is available in the following formats:

• Paper-based document (download and print)

• Y-Mark (auto-marking) via Moodle.

There are two sections to the Assessment Workbook:

• Workbook 1 - Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment

• Workbook 2 - Know How to Support Clients Who Take Part in Exercise and Physical Activity.

This is an open book assessment and all questions within each workbook must be answered correctly. The work must be the learner’s own and group completion is not allowed.

The Assessment workbook will now be the formal method of assessment for the Level 2 Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment and Level 2 Know How to Support Clients Who Take Part in Exercise and Physical Activity units and so will replace the worksheets within the Level 2 Mandatory Units LAR.

The Level 2 Mandatory Units LAR is no longer available to download or order from the web shop*.

For any qualification where these two units feature, centres will now need to either download a copy of the Level 2 Mandatory Units Assessment Workbook  from the secure section of the YMCA Awards website, order a print version from the web shop or alternatively register for the digital self-marking version (Y-Mark) on the Moodle platform. To enrol learners on Y-Mark, please follow the instructions on the    Assessment Workbooks page under the Centre Home area on the YMCA Award website. You will need to log in to access this page.

Please note, the assessment methods for Level 2 Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Level 2 Principles of Exercise Fitness and Health will stay the same and are still assessed through multiple choice theory exams.

If you have any queries about the Level 2 Mandatory Units Assessment workbook please email awards.support@ymca.co.uk
