City & Guilds has decided to withdraw qualifications in the Sports and Recreation sector. We have partnered with them to ensure learners and centres are not disadvantaged by these exit plans. We’ll be offering all the support you need for a smooth transition.

We share a charitable purpose with City & Guilds and our respective qualifications are delivered and valued internationally. As YMCA Awards was the first awarding organisation to specialise in vocational qualifications for the fitness sector, City & Guilds chose us based on the quality of our qualifications, products and services and our reputation in the sector. We’re working together to ensure consistency and efficiency in the process of transferring your centre approval.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to do anything, the Business Manager for your area will be in touch with you shortly and they will talk you through the process step by step. But if you'd like to start the process right now please email

We’ve put together some further information and FAQs here if you’d like to know more.

What our centres say about us

There is always somebody happy to talk through resources and explore options for development. Resources are always growing and contribute to enhanced classroom and practical based delivery.”

Thomas Dickie, Hertford Regional College (HRC)

"YMCA Awards offer Internationally recognised qualifications and as far as I was concerned, are the market leaders for the Health & Fitness Industry.

“They all work extremely hard to ensure you are supported as a training provider throughout the whole process from setting up to maintaining a high level of delivery.

“They work together to ensure the right person has been allocated for any particular query, which means you get the best possible advice and support.”

Vicki Smith, Astara Training Ltd
