As a result of two recent reviews, CYQ is introducing new multiple-choice test papers across all qualifications.

  • Review of assessment policy and procedures for multiple-choice tests against the new Ofqual Conditions of Recognition

The ‘review of core Level 2 and 3 qualifications’ has resulted in a series of new multiple-choice tests that map precisely to the units, and the contents have been subject to a thorough quality check to ensure that they meet best-practice guidelines in multiple-choice-test item writing.

For the L3 unit Applying the Principles of Nutrition to a Physical Activity Programme, the ‘review of assessment policy and procedures for multiple-choice tests against the new Ofqual Conditions of Recognition’ has resulted in a revised assessment strategy that includes a multiple-choice test with 30 items rather than 40.

The new tests are more fit-for-purpose and represent a fairer assessment for the learner. However, learners who have previously sat one of the older (40-item) L3 nutrition papers may not be fully prepared for the new (30-item) ones should they require a resit. Therefore, centres will be allowed to request one of the older papers (versions 3.1 and 3.2) for these specific learners until 31 December 2013, after which time they will be withdrawn. Please make this request by adding a note to the request form.
