Today, we’re updating customers on changes and progress since our communication last Friday.

Temporary suspension of external assessment

As a result of social distancing rules, we do not feel it is currently possible to safely complete invigilated assessments without breaching our External Assessment Policy. We’ve therefore taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend external assessment until social distancing rules are relaxed or we agree an alternative.

We are continuing to work with our suppliers to introduce a remote invigilation solution (eProctoring) and hope to be able to share more information soon about our progress.

Delay and adaptations to practical assessment

Many of our customers have been in touch this week to outline the challenges they face with delaying practical assessments. We are reading all these comments and we’re sorry we’re not immediately able to provide an alternative.

We have a responsibility to ensure that any adaptations we make to our assessments continue to allow learners to access the full range of progression opportunities available in usual circumstances. In many cases, this means ensuring learners can demonstrate the knowledge and skills required by employers so that they can find work once qualified.

We are working with other awarding organisations and CIMSPA to agree temporary adaptations to assessment arrangements which we can propose to our regulators. We will update you as soon as there is agreement of the way forward for your current learners.

Certification

We’ve been continuing to review and process certificate claims. If your claim has recently been processed in Parnassus, our team will be in touch in the next couple of days to:

  • set you up with access to our eCertificate platform (YMCA Awards Verification Portal)
  • provide information on how learners can view their achievements
