We’ve been hard at work improving stability and the experience of using Y-mark and we’re excited to announce Y-mark 2.0!

Clearer instructions to learners

We’ve updated our Y-mark instructions to make it clearer what learners need to do.

Before you begin, you should ensure that you’ve studied the relevant unit content. However, you can refer to your notes or other learning resources during the assessment.

You need to score 100% in all workbooks in order to pass the assessment. If you don’t score 100% in a workbook first time, you’ll be able to go back and try the questions you got wrong again. If you exit the worksheet and come back later, you’ll need to start from the beginning.

There is a limit to the maximum number of times you can attempt these worksheets. So, if you’re struggling you need make sure you talk to your tutor to get further support.

These workbooks perform best in Google Chrome. You don’t need to enable Adobe Flash when viewing in Google Chrome, but it may improve your experience.

Breaking down large worksheets into smaller chunks

Worksheets are now shorter. Learners need to answer a maximum of 15 questions before finding out how they’ve done.

Improved stability

We’ve made changes to how the workbooks function to prevent data loss where learners use the workbooks in unexpected ways. If a learner doesn’t get 100% on a worksheet first time, they’ll still be able to go back and correct their incorrect answers. But, if they exit the session or switch devices, they’ll need to start again.

The changes are already live for Y-mark Digital Assessment Workbooks for the following qualifications:

FAQs

What happens to learners enrolled on older versions of Y-mark?

Learners part way through a worksheet have been left on the older version of Y-mark so they can complete their attempt. All other learners have either been migrated to the new version of the worksheets or their data has been archived. If you have any questions about a specific learner, please let us know.

Do learners still need to take screenshots to prove their achievement?

Only if your learners are completing the older versions. Providing learners follow the instructions in Y-mark 2.0, there should be no need for them to provide additional evidence to support their achievement.
