By completing this qualification, learners will meet industry requirements to work and engage their local community in physical activity, as set out within the CIMSPA professional standard.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop the knowledge and skills of qualified group exercise instructors and/or fitness instructors in order for them to be able to work collaboratively with individuals and groups within community settings.

Completing this qualification will enable learners to research, plan and deliver programmes encouraging physical activity and wellness that have been identified as being lacking within a community and gain insight into how to ensure sustainability through the creation of partnerships.

This qualification is endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

CIMSPA professional standards are employer-led and define the knowledge and skills individuals must understand and demonstrate to undertake a particular role.

Learners will be empowered to communicate with, engage and facilitate individuals/groups to build trust and empower the community to develop programmes and activities that reflect local needs with lasting impact.

 

 

This qualification is designed to support existing fitness and exercise instructors develop and deliver physical activity programmes within a community setting. Learners must therefore be aged 16+ with an existing gym or group exercise instructing qualification.

To achieve the YMCA Level 2 Award in Developing Sustainable Physical Activity Programmes within Community Settings (603/7343/X), learners need to achieve one mandatory unit.
