Enables learners to deal with a wide range of situations including:
- assessing emergency situations
- providing first aid to an unresponsive infant or child
- CPR
- choking
- external bleeding
- bites, stings and minor injuries

Handle emergencies
YMCA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
- Builds on the smaller qualification to add knowledge and skills to manage paediatric illness and injuries including:
- suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- head and spinal injures
- acute medical conditions (including diabetes and asthma)
- burns and scalds and anaphylaxis.
Learners need to be aged 14 or older.
To achieve the YMCA Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid, learners must complete Unit 1. To achieve the YMCA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid, learners must complete both Units 1 and 2.
