    Overview

    By completing this qualification, learners will meet industry requirements to engage children aged 0-5 in sport and physical activity, as set out within CIMSPA’s professional standards.

    The purpose of these qualifications is to enable learners to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to professionally, plan and deliver safe and effective sport and physical activity sessions to children and young people. Completing these qualifications provides learners with access to jobs running sport and physical activity sessions with children.

    Qualification details

    Learners will cover:

    • Safeguarding and protecting children.
    • Principles of holistic development in children aged 0-5.
    • How to support children with additional needs in the context of sport and physical activity provision.
    • The role of sport and physical activity in child development.
    • How to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment for the delivery of sport and physical activity sessions. Promoting health and well-being of children aged 0-5.

    To achieve this qualification, learners must complete 3 mandatory units and 1 safeguarding unit from a choice of three. There are 11 assessment tasks for the mandatory units and 2-3 assessment tasks for safeguarding, depending on the unit selected.
