Education budget cuts, risk to UK health

Cuts to further education budgets are putting at risk initiatives designed to tackle UK obesity, inactivity and resulting health problems warns YMCA Awards, one of the UK’s leading providers of qualifications for fitness professionals.

New research commissioned by YMCA Awards shows that there will be a shortfall in trained fitness instructors and coaches if current rates at which FE Colleges are cutting places and closing departments continue.

YMCA Awards secures SFA funding for popular qualifications

YMCA Awards (previously CYQ) is delighted to announce SFA funding approval for the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (500/8269/3) and the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Instructing Exercise and Fitness (501/0519/X).

YMCA Awards is proud to add these two popular qualifications to their already impressive list of qualifications (from Level 1 to Level 4) that allow centres to draw down funding from the Skills Funding Agency (SFA).

CYQ delighted to announce two new senior appointments

CYQ has announced the appointments of Helen Hayes as Head of Products and Services, and Craig Potter as Head of Commercial.

AoC Sport in the Curriculum Conference

CYQ’s Martin Petch and Amanda Smallman attended the AoC Sport in the Curriculum Conference at Loughborough University on Tuesday 27 January.
 
During round table discussions, Martin and Amanda spoke with around 30 colleges . Feedback included ideas for master-class CPD sessions, a "Centre of Excellence" system to recognise outstanding providers and a request for training products to assist learners in using social media. This feedback will be discussed as CYQ begin to develop their functional plans for the coming financial year.
