This two-unit qualification is intended for those looking to assess occupational competence in a work environment. Learners will develop knowledge of the underpinning principles of the assessment process but will also gain vital hands-on practice of assessing occupational competence in the workplace.

Please note, to be eligible for this qualification, learners must have access to at least two candidates to gather assessment evidence.

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
Unit 2: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
Total credit value = 9

Accreditation

The qualification is externally accredited by Edexcel.

Certification

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment.

Entry requirements

Learners must be aged 19 and above to access this course. Learners must be qualified and technically competent in the specific discipline they wish to assess. Learners must have access to at least two candidates in order to gather assessment evidence.

Fees and resources

Assessor Silver Option 2: £500 per learner
Course fee includes registration, certification, assessment support, face-to-face delivery and full access to the Assessor eLearning resource.

Assessor Silver Option 2 customised course option: £450 per learner*

Fees for direct observation
Submission of performance-based video evidence is required for Unit 2. Where you are unable to provide video evidence, a YMCA Awards Professional Development approved assessor may perform a direct observation for an additional fee.

Progression routes

Once Units 1 and 2 are completed, learners can progress onto complete the final unit, Unit 3, of the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement:-

  • Unit 3: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

Learners can book onto Unit 3 for an additional fee of £350 per learner.

Having completed all three units learners will be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement and will be eligible to practice as a fully qualified Assessor in both vocational and occupational settings.
