Develop the skills you need to deliver training in a wide range of settings. This qualification will prepare you for teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Structure

Unit: Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning
Unit: Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in lifelong learning
Unit: Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning
Unit: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

Total credit value = 12

 

Note

If learner-teachers have already achieved one of the new assessor awards:

 

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

 

They will already have achieved the unit ‘Understanding the principles and practices of assessment’ which they will therefore not need to repeat here. Credit for this unit will be transferred to the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector qualification.

 

If a learner-teacher chooses ‘Understanding the principles and practices of assessment’ unit and progresses on to one of the new awards:

 

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment

Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

 

Credit for this unit will be transferred to the assessor award they are completing.

Accreditation

The qualification is externally accredited by Edexcel.

Certification

Level 4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Entry requirements

Learners must be aged 19 and above to access this course. Prior completion of the Assessor qualification is also strongly recommended.

Assessment
  • Submission of work based evidence (worksheets, report writing, article writing)
  • Submission of performance based video assessment (micro-teaching and observed teaching)
Fees and resources

£350 per learner

Course fees include registration, certification, assessment support and full access to the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector eLearning resource.

 

Fees for direct observation

Submission of performance-based video evidence is required. Where you are unable to provide video evidence, a CYQ Professional Development approved assessor may perform a direct observation for an additional fee.

Progression routes

Learners who complete the Level 4 PTLLS qualification may wish to progress on to the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
