    About the Role

    YMCA Awards is seeking Apprenticeship Assessors (formally known as Independent End-Point Assessor) to deliver high quality Apprenticeship Assessment activity for the Level 2 Horticulture / Landscape Operative apprenticeship standard. We are looking for confident, organised, and professional Apprenticeship Assessors with strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with apprentices and employers. You will be comfortable working independently while consistently maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and professional practice.

    This varied role plays a critical part in supporting apprentices to successfully complete their apprenticeship and progress in their careers.

    You will conduct Apprenticeship Assessments in line with relevant assessment plans, regulatory requirements, and YMCA Awards’ policies, ensuring all assessment decisions are fair, valid, reliable, and independent.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver Apprenticeship Assessment activity in accordance with approved assessment plans
    • Support apprentices and employers to understand the apprenticeship assessment process and requirements
    • Conduct assessment methods including:
      • Practical observations
      • Professional discussions
      • Knowledge based questioning
      • Evidence review
    • Make accurate, valid, and compliant assessment and grading decisions
    • Maintain detailed and accurate assessment records and documentation
    • Ensure compliance with Ofqual requirements, safeguarding, and YMCA Awards assessment policies
    • Attend standardisation activities, CPD events, assessment reviews, and planning meetings
    • Engage professionally with employers, providers, learners, and internal teams
    • Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of apprenticeship assessment products and services

    Essential Criteria

    • Minimum 3 years’ recent and relevant occupational experience in horticulture or landscape construction
    • A relevant Level 3 (or above) occupational qualification
    • A recognised Assessor qualification
    • Minimum 12 months’ experience assessing work based knowledge and competence
    • Experience of the Level 2 Horticulture / Landscape Operative apprenticeship standard
    • Evidence of CPD within the last 12 months
    • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
    • Ability to travel independently to assessment locations

    Desirable Criteria

    • Experience working within a regulated or awarding organisation
    • Experience contributing to assessment design or resource development
