Approval Requirements
To become a YMCA Awards approved centre, training providers must meet our centre approval requirements and demonstrate they have the qualified staff, appropriate facilities and equipment needed to deliver YMCA Awards qualifications effectively and support learners to achieve.
We recheck this information:
Every autumn as part of our annual registration process
When a new member of staff joins the team delivering a YMCA Awards qualification
When a training provider wants to deliver a new YMCA Awards qualification
During our external quality assurance activities
A discipline specific qualification at/above the level they plan to teach
A teaching qualification

An internal quality assurance qualification
Examples of IQA qualifications include:
Main Contact — someone with overall responsibility for the management of YMCA Awards’ programmes within the centre. This will be our first point of contact for all matters relating to delivery and quality assurance of our qualifications.
Exams Officer — someone with overall responsibility for scheduling external assessments and maintaining the confidentiality of assessment materials.
