This qualification recognises the skills, knowledge and competence required of an individual in order to work in an unsupervised capacity, including the values and principles of adult social care and the ability to plan and deliver seated recreational physical activities.
Designed for social care workers, activity organisers/coordinators and volunteers, who may include parents, carers, relatives, peer mentors or peer motivators.

Knowledge and understanding relating to the qualification:
- the values and principles and importance of diversity in adult social care
- the effects of ageing, disability and inactivity on body systems
- how body system changes impact planning and delivery of safe inclusive seated recreational physical activities
- how to plan and adapt activities sessions with individuals and groups
- the difference between seated recreational physical activities and chair-based exercise and the benefits of the former
- how to engage individuals to participate in seated recreational physical activities
- special considerations for delivering such activities
- how to act appropriately in the event of adverse effects in an individual in an activities session
Skills relating to the qualification:
- plan, deliver and reflect on providing safe seated recreational physical activities with individuals and groups
- manage risks in relation to delivering activities sessions with individuals and groups
