This three-unit qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills in a non-work based setting.

Please note, to be eligible for this qualification, learners must have access to at least two candidates to gather assessment evidence.

Structure

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
Unit 2: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
Unit 3: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
Total credit value = 15

Accreditation

The qualification is externally accredited by Edexcel.

Certification

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

Entry requirements

Learners must be aged 19 and above to access this course. Learners must be qualified and technically competent in the specific discipline they wish to assess. Learners must have access to at least two candidates carrying out assessments within a vocational and work based setting or two candidates carrying out work based assessment and two candidates carrying out vocationally related assessment (four candidates in total) in order to gather assessment evidence.

Fees and resources

Assessor Gold: £650 per learner
Course fee includes registration, certification, assessment support, face-to-face delivery, and full access to the Assessor eLearning resource.

Customised course option - save £1,200
Assessor Gold bespoke course option: £450 per learner*
*Based on a minimum of six learners. Further reductions may be available for larger groups. Centres may also be required to pay for tutor expenses (where applicable). Please contact YMCA Awards on 020 7343 1800 for more information.

Fees for direct observation
Submission of performance based video evidence is required for Units 2 and 3. Where you are unable to provide video evidence, a YMCA Awards Professional Development approved assessor may perform a live/direct observation for an additional fee. Please note two observations will be required (in vocational and work based settings).

Progression routes

Having completed the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement and gained experience assessing, the natural next step is to study for the Internal Quality Assurer course.
