This qualification provides learners with knowledge and skills to apply reliable, evidence-based nutritional science and healthy eating recommendations.

    Learners will gain an understanding of nutritional science and their application to exercise, sport and athletic performance. This includes the limitations and risks of supplements and performance aids, and the importance of hydration for sports performance.

    Working within their scope of practice, learners will be able to support their clients in their understanding of the relevance of official guidelines to personal food preferences and needs, including for health and wellbeing, weight management and sports performance.

    This qualification is mapped to, and fully endorsed against, the the Association for Nutrition (AfN) competence framework: Nutrition for Fitness and Leisure (Advanced Level).

    It is also recognised by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMPSA), receiving 10 CPD points.


     

    Currently working as a Personal Trainer? This qualification builds on knowledge within our YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (Practitioner) qualifications allowing learners to expand scope of practice and better support their clients.

     


    Better support your clients

     

    Learners must be aged 16+.

    Learners must also hold either a level 3 nutrition qualification or a qualification that includes nutrition content at level 3 e.g. YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (Practitioner). 

    To achieve the YMCA Level 4 Certificate in Applied Nutrition for Health, Wellness, Weight Management, and Sports Performance (610/2287/1), learners need to achieve 3 mandatory units:

    This qualification can lead to further training at the same and/or higher levels in a range of related disciplines. For example, YMCA Level 4 Certificate in Weight Management for Individuals with Obesity, Diabetes Mellitus and/or Metabolic Syndrome (600/6752/4).

Training providers will charge learners more than the prices listed below to cover the costs of the delivery of teaching and assessment they complete on our behalf.
